5 Places To Go When The Stadium Just Isn't in the Cards
We have all been there before, game time rolls around and there is a great divide in the tailgate. The question is continually asked, "Are you going into the game?" While the chills of entering Stanford Stadium can't be matched, these downtown spots are perfect if you need to air conditioning, crowd control and a beer on draft.
Georgia Theatre
Not many people know that the Georgia Theatre airs every home game. Displayed on an oversized flat screen in front of the normal stage set-up, you can watch the game along with many other fans, who for one reason or another, don't have a ticket. Also this place (I can say from experience) has an amazing air condition system because it is always chilly and dark and perfect to cool off after, before or during the game.
Drink Suggestion: Long Island Ice Tea
Silver Dollar
Coined the "HQ for your Game day," Silver Dollar bar is another classic bar in the classic city. It offers a variety of indoor and outdoor viewing, as well as a classic photo op moment on their newly renovated patio under the iconic "ATH" sign. Silver is known to feature the famous DJ RX as well as many other local bands on Fridays and Saturdays. The crowd is a pretty balanced ratio of students to alumni so you will get a little bit of everything at Silver Dollar!
Drink Suggestion: NEW Cucumber Jalapeño Basil Bloody Mary

Woodford
Woodford is located just around the corner from the Georgia Theatre, on Washington. This bar is great because it has a very relaxed, chill feel during the day and is where primarily upper classmen hang. You can easily come and go as you please, but fair warning, at night this space turns into a club filled with people, smoke and lights. My advice: go during the game with friends, grab a booth, get their new "Mega Mule" which is exactly what is sounds like, it is the perfect drink to down during the game!
Drink Suggestion: Owen's Mega Mule

Creature Comforts Brewery
A little different from the typical bar scene, Athen's downtown brewery, Creature Comforts is another great spot to get a craft brew and watch the dawgs play. The atmosphere is very inviting with exposed brick and big garage doors that open and let in tons of fresh air, allowing you to still fill connected with the buzz of street on game day. A lot of people bring their dogs, so feel free to bring man's best friend along!
Drink Suggestion: Creature Comfort's Athenia Paradiso
The Mark
New development apartment complex, The Mark, is making students dreams come true. When the dawgs are on the road, The Mark uses their pool area and large projector to stream the game. This is the perfect destination for people looking for a place to live as well, tour The Mark and see all the amenities it has to offer!
Drink Suggestion: Pick-Up beer from Jimbo's
