7 Best Places to Enjoy the Fall Weather


The crisp air of fall is, to many students, the closest thing they have found to nirvana. Fall weather, no matter the region, is where it's at. The perfect time to hit the outdoor scene and taking in the moderate weather before the chill of winter rolls in and you can't leave the house without your Uggs.

1. Find Your Closest Brewery

Micro Brewery's are all the rage these days and are pumping out some of the best brews right in your college town. The best part? A lot of these breweries offer outdoor seating to enjoy drinks with friends. Primetime is to meet up after classes end, the college version of "drinks after work."

2. Go and lay on Your School's version of a "Quad"

This is a classic college scene. In every movie that strives to depict "college" there is the is always a back drop of students frolicking around a field doing a various displays of picnicking, throwing a football, sunbathing, reading, the list goes on. As cliche as this idea of a quad might sound, it is actually the perfect way to get outside and relax. Go to the closes grocery, pick up some cheese, fruit jams and prosciutto and make yourself a charcuterie board. Maybe if your feeling super bold, grab a bottle of bubbly and two coffee cups if you aren't on a dry campus!

3. Every town has a 5K

Whether it's a race for a sorority, fraternity, the university or some great cause, almost anywhere you are, you can find a race to run. Running outside and for a cause is a great way to get involved and really take the time to enjoy your surroundings. Trailing for a 5K or marathon also is a great way to practice your discipline which sometimes wanes while juggling college. Here is a link to a website that finds sponsored races in your area!

4. Fall Football Tailgating

This is one kind of a gimme. Obviously, the BEST thing about fall is football season. Get outside and cheer for your team because these four years are the only years you have left to sit in the student section--don't take that for granted!

5. Rooftop Bars are the Best Bars

Whoever came up with the idea of rooftop bars is a genius. The beautiful fall weather combined with the contagious energy of a bar is the perfect place to hang out during the game. Sunglasses are a must, as is a photo opt above the streets of your college town. A birds eye view couldn't get better than this!

6. Study/Take Work Outside

Studies have shown the studying outside decreases your stress, increases your concentration and gives you a healthy boost of vitamin D. What great news! Getting outside and out of the library will provide the perfect change of scenery while still allowing you to get your work done. In other words, it's a win-win.

7. Explore the Actual Town/City Your School is in

Who knew that outside campus, your school actually has a town and a culture. Although school spirit is probably very dominant in your respective college towns, there are great local activities to offer as well. The shopping in downtown Athens, the lakes around Clemson, it can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be but it will also support your local community--and who doesn't love that!?
